Well, spring is finally here, or so the weatherman says and Wreaths by Sandy has completed its first eighteen months of business. It has been a work in progress; a real learning experience. I want to thank everyone for their help and support.
This first 18 months has been very interesting. I spent so much time setting up the business, creating the website and making wreaths that I forgot one very important aspect – marketing! My goal for the next 12 months is to improve upon my marketing skills. In 2007, I did three craft shows; my work was well received and I did accomplish my original goal of having more activity on the website. What’s up with our economy? The price of everything is going up especially the price of gas and credit is getting tight. The fundamental problem is uncertainty. No one knows where the bottom of this recession will be. I’ve spoken with many of my vendors, as well as fellow crafters, and they readily admit business is down and they’re not sure what to do. I had planned on continuing doing more craft shows this year. But due to increase in gas prices and the probability of declining sales, I was not going to start doing shows until September; I have such an extensive Fall and Christmas inventory. But as we all know, plans are made to be changed. My daughter is expecting my first grandchild around September 26th; needless to say I have cancelled my September and October shows. I am going to use this year to research marketing techniques as well as having time to design. As a thank you for your support, I am offering a 15% coupon.
