A wreath
is a ring of flowers, leaves,
and sometimes fruits, used as an
ornament, hanging on a wall or
door, or resting on a table.
Wreaths are wonderful decorative
items for any occasion no matter
what season of the year. Spring
and summer wreaths may be
festooned with colored eggs,
flowers, fruits or vegetables.
Autumn wreaths may preserve
elements of the harvest -
gourds, nuts, dried leaves and
flowers. However, winter wreaths
are the most glorious at a time
when we most need a splash of
color and life and they
certainly say, "welcome to my
home". Wreaths are practical for
the holidays, as well. They are
not symbols of any particular
religious tradition, so any home
can enjoy a wreath. A wreath is,
also, a wonderful gift your
family can donate to a worthy
institution, a retirement home,
or to offer to a charity auction
or event. |
Wreaths
are ideal for instant decoration
on a bare wall or to replace a
painting or other work of art
for a festive occasion.
Wreaths can be placed high up
and still be visible in a
crowded room or they can be
oversized and command attention
for an entire wall.
Hang a wreath on the front gate,
doors, over windows (inside and
out), in front of a mirror,
screen, bookcase or over a
mantle.
They are also versatile in size
and can be hung from a door
knob, propped up on a shelf or
plate rack, hung in front of a
cupboard door, hung on a stair
landing, a headboard, or a towel
rack in the bathroom.
Wreaths add instant cheer no
matter where they are placed. |
